The official opening of The Riverlink Building took place on Thursday 19 April 2018.
The Levee Development Component Two was completed at a cost of $9.92 million and funded by the NSW Government’s Restart NSW Resources for Regions program and included the construction of The Riverlink Building, as well as upgrades to the Bourke Street Link and the Riverwalk.
The Riverlink Building and all the other Component Two upgrades have completed an amazing transformation for Central Maitland.
The Riverlink Building strengthens the city’s historic relationship with the Hunter River and its development as the city’s premier lifestyle precinct.
Along with the modern finishes at The Riverlink, a public art piece by Newcastle artist Braddon Snape has been installed to complete the space. The installation, titled ‘Clouds Gathering’, represents Central Maitland’s relationship with water and the river.
This public space provides easy access to the river and offers a unique usable space for all types of events from buskers though to Maitland Flagship Events.
